The Harrisonburg Fire Department (HFD) is proud to participate in Fire Prevention Week each year. Fire Prevention Week™ is October 4–10, 2026. “Charge Into Fire Safety™. Safe Charging Is a Superpower” focuses on the everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires and keep homes and communities safer. Plug in. Power up. Stay safe. We are hosting the following events open to the public throughout the month of October. All are welcome! October 7th- Sweet Sounds of Fire Safety from 4:00pm-6:00pm at the Downtown Kline's. Kids under 12 get a free scoop of ice cream and will learn about fire safety. October 10th- Sensory Friendly Boo Bash at Fire Station 5 from 10:00am-2:00pm. Enjoy games, activities, emergency vehicles in a sensory friendly environment. October 30th- Trunk or Treat at the Public Safety Building (101 North Main Street) from 5:30-7:30pm. We are participating in the following events throughout the month of October: October 24th - Skeleton Festival (Downtown Harrisonburg) from 1:00pm-5:00pm sponsored by Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance October 27th - Trunk or Treat with the CSB (463 E.
