Take a fascinating hike and discover the rich history of James River State Park, from ancient fossils to the American Civil War and beyond. Along the way, we’ll pause at one of the park’s historic cemeteries and finish with breathtaking views at the Tye River Overlook. This moderate, two-mile out-and-back hike introduces you to the influential figures and cultural and natural resources that shaped the park and the surrounding region. Please meet at the Visitor Center. Suitable for all ages. Wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the weather and bring a water bottle with you.
