October Volunteer Workday: Trail Cleanup

Saturday, October 17, 2026 · 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Claytor Lake State Park — 6620 Ben H. Bolen Dr., Dublin, VA

Join us on the trails and help give them the spruce-up they need. We'll do trail maintenance on a section of Poplar Leaf Trail from the Interpretive Campfire Circle to the paved section that leads to our Beach Overflow Lot. This could include raking leaves, lopping overhanging branches, removing invasives, clearing out culverts, and more. Each month, volunteers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to work together on a project that helps improve and maintain our beautiful park. Projects vary each month and may include tasks like trail maintenance, park beautification, litter cleanup, or special volunteer projects. This is a great opportunity to get outside, meet new people, and give back to the park you love. No experience is required. The park will provide trail tools and supplies. Please bring sunscreen, wear closed-toe shoes, and don't forget water and snacks to stay refueled. Whether you can stay for 20 minutes or the full event, every helping hand makes a difference. Please email Hannah. Wetzel@dcr.virginia.gov for any questions. Interested in volunteering at this event? Add it to your calendar by selecting your preferred calendar option below.
