Visitors will have the chance to view and experience a Union cavalry camp, complete with A-frame wedge tents, a working picket line, historic replica equipment, and live horses. Explore the camp and chat with living history interpreters before heading out to the demonstration field for a narrated cavalry training exhibition featuring horseback maneuvers, black-powder pistol firing, and an up-close meet-and-greet with the horses afterward. With camp open throughout the day and multiple demonstrations offered each day, this program offers an exciting, sensory-rich look at how Civil War cavalry trained, lived, and prepared for battle, set in the rolling landscape of Sky Meadows.
