Thinking of planting a spring garden or sprucing up an existing one? Then join this talk by Carol Decker, naturalist and native plant aficionado, to learn about native plants that can be planted in every landscape to support birds, pollinators and all life at the same time. Learn about cultivars vs. natives, planting native seeds, no dig gardening, leaving the leaves and all the ways we can easily support our birds and pollinators, both of which are in serious decline. Native plants do not need fertilizers, require far less water than ornamentals, and planting them is a win-win for you and for nature. Carol is the past Director of Mass Audubon’s Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary where she worked for 29 years to manage and oversee conservation and education initiatives at the nine North Shore sanctuaries. She is a founding member of West Newbury Wild and Native, a group composed of people dedicated to sharing information and resources for residents of West Newbury and surrounding Towns to integrate native plants into their yards, support pollinators and work to eradicate invasive species.
