Author Talk: "A Better Sense of Being" with Brenda Sheridan

Wednesday, September 23, 2026 · 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Children's Room — 490 Main St., West Newbury, MA

Brenda Sheridan is a Swampscott resident, retired NICU nurse, medium and author. Her debut novel, A Better Sense of Being is the story of Iris and Ruby, two friends navigating the ups and downs of life after discovering that Iris is a medium. With the help of Jeremy, a medium from England, they learn to face their fears, find healing, and embrace the joy of knowing that love never dies. Brenda discovered she was a medium almost 15 years ago. Unsure what to make of it, she took classes, read books and eventually travelled to England to study with some of the world’s best mediums. As her own mediumship unfolded, she struggled both with understanding it for herself, and with explaining it all to others. As this novel began to take shape, she realized it could be a way to show not just how mediumship can transform lives, but also how it works. Through her story of friendship, loss and healing, she hopes to dispel fear and offer hope to her readers so that they too can feel the comfort she feels in knowing those who have passed are never more than a thought away. This event is offered in coordination with West Newbury's Sage Center.
