Learn Tatreez, Palestinian Embroidery, on Clothing

Tuesday, October 6, 2026 · 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM

Raya Stern Trustees Room (2nd floor) — 123 Main St., Watertown, MA

Join us for a hands-on Tatreez workshop where you'll learn the traditional Palestinian embroidery technique and apply it directly to your own garments using waste canvas. This method allows you to stitch beautiful Tatreez motifs onto everyday clothing, transforming simple pieces into unique wearables. No prior embroidery experience is necessary and all skill levels are welcome. You'll be guided through the process from start to finish, including how to use waste canvas and complete your design. Materials provided: embroidery thread, needles, waste canvas, and patterns. Please bring: A linen or cotton garment to embroider on (button-down shirts are an excellent choice). Freshly washed clothing is recommended. Please Note: Arts and crafts workshops are in high demand! By registering, we are counting on your attendance. Thank you for your cooperation. This class is for adults. -- The Watertown Free Public Library does not discriminate and does not share your information with anyone.
