Discover the meditative and tactile beauty of Chigiri-e, a traditional Japanese art form using hand-torn Washi paper to create painterly images. In this workshop, you will learn foundational techniques for softening and shaping paper edges to build texture and depth, achieving a vibrant, layered effect through paper alone. The session focuses on creating an "Analog Sanctuary"—a screen-free, mindful environment designed to foster relaxation and creative focus. You will explore a rich array of paper textures while capturing the warm tones of autumn foliage. By the end of the session, you will take home a handcrafted collage card and the skills to continue practicing this sustainable art form. About the Instructor Chihiro is a mixed-media artist specializing in traditional Japanese paper arts. Her primary focus is Chigiri-e (hand-torn paper collage), alongside Origami (paper folding), Kiri-e (paper cutting), and Hariko (paper-mâché). As the founder of 5U3 Workshop (www.5U3.jp), her work centers on creating screen-free, tactile spaces where anyone can find a sense of calm, belonging, and the simple joy of creating by hand.
