Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary — 87 Perkins Row, Topsfield, MA
As dusk settles over Ipswich River in midwinter, it is the perfect hour for the youngest owl enthusiasts. Before heading outside, you and your child gather in the cozy Nature Center to explore real owl feathers, skulls, and talons up close, and find out how these birds live and hunt. Then comes a gentle hike as the light fades, watching and listening for Barred Owls, Great Horned Owls, and Eastern Screech-Owls along the sanctuary trails. The evening wraps up with an owl-hooting lesson and a take-home owl craft, making this a wonderful first owl prowl for the youngest nature lovers. Meets in the Nature Center. Dress for the weather.
