In October 2026, the Topsfield Town Library is hosting local artist Sheila Boss-Concannon for an exhibition of her work, titled Following in Her Footsteps . As an artist, I consider myself a storyteller. The stories that interest me the most are those about women who live both ordinary and extraordinary lives. Throughout history, women have been creating and making in their daily lives – sewing, painting, writing, knitting, baking, gardening, etc. The act of making binds us together through generations. I am inspired by the daily work of brave, bold and ordinary women who create and also work to have their voices heard. My imagery evolves through the use of color, layering, collage, stitching, painting, drawing and instinct. My work is a reflection of my daily life and the things that I care about: family, femininity, feminism, and the traditions inherent in domesticity which tie me to women of the past, present and future. In life and in art, I stand on the shoulders of the women who came before me. Through art, I have the power to create positive changes for future generations. All work is for sale.
