A Nature Year at Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary (Saturday Afternoons)

Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary — 87 Perkins Row, Topsfield, MA

Spend a year getting to know one place through every season. Once a month meet at Ipswich River with a Mass Audubon naturalist to dig into one subject such as animal tracking in January, owls in February, and maple sugaring and winter twigs in March. From there, the year opens up through vernal pools, songbirds, reptiles and amphibians, insects, wetland wildflowers, butterflies, beavers, waterfowl, and winter survival. Coming back to the same place month after month, you notice what changes and what holds steady, while gaining a better understanding of the nature of Massachusetts. Not ready to commit to a full year? Try a 3-month A Nature Year series.
