These haunting tales promise to give chills and thrills, from the psychological terror of The Shining by Stephen King (1977) to I Am Legend , an apocalyptic masterpiece by Richard Matheson (1954) that laid the groundwork for the modern zombie and vampire genres. Other works include The Haunting of Hill House , The Exorcist , Interview with the Vampire , The Silence of the Lambs , Ghost Story , The Only Good Indians , Something Wicked This Way Comes , and The Turn of the Screw , a masterclass in ambiguity and unreliable narration. Led by Dr. Bill Thierfelder , a retired college professor who taught a variety of Arts and Humanities courses for more than three decades at several New York universities and colleges.
