This month, join us for a discussion of The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali. In 1950s Tehran, the untimely death of Ellie’s father leaves her lonely and bearing the brunt of her mother’s endless grievances. Dreaming of friends, Elie meets Homa and they share their ambitions of becoming “lion women.” Together, the two young women come of age and pursue their own goals for meaningful futures. But as the political turmoil in Iran builds to a breaking point, one earth-shattering betrayal will have enormous consequences. New members are always welcome! Copies of the book are available at the Front Desk one month prior to meeting. We will be meeting in person, in the meeting room on the first floor of the library. Please email Emily Leggat at eleggat@tewksburypl.org with any questions.
