A Nature Year at Wellfleet Bay: Winter Series

Saturday, January 23, 2027 · 10:00 AM

Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary — 291 Us-6, South Wellfleet, MA

Take on a year of nature study three months at a time. This winter block gives you three outings with a Mass Audubon naturalist at Wellfleet Bay: reading mammal tracks in January sand and snow, identifying trees by bark and bud in February, and watching American Woodcocks perform their spiraling courtship flights at dusk in March. Each meeting digs into a fresh subject, deepening your connection to this remarkable place as you experience the coastal landscape's shift from deep winter into the first stirrings of spring. The three-month option exists to make a yearlong program easier to say yes to, and the full twelve months are waiting if it hooks you. The January and February meetings run 10:00 AM to noon. The March woodcock outing runs in the evening, 5:45 to 7:45 PM. Every session includes time outdoors on uneven winter trails. More details on what to bring and expect will be emailed to you ahead of the program.
