Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary — 293 Moose Hill St., Sharon, MA
By January, the forest has shifted into survival mode. Walk through the sanctuary's trails to look for the quiet adaptations that keep animals and plants alive through the cold: thick bark, seed caches, leaf litter as insulation, and more. Discover how different species, from the Red Squirrel to the dormant oak, make it through winter, and why these strategies matter for the whole ecosystem. Back inside, use inspiration from the trails to create a winter adaptation-themed craft to take home. The program starts with a walk on sanctuary trails, which may be wet or slippery, and finishes indoors with a craft. All children must be accompanied by an adult for the entire program. In the event of severe weather conditions, the program may be cancelled or postponed. More details on what to bring and expect will be emailed to you ahead of the program.
