This comprehensive course provided by Merrimack Valley Public Health Alliance prepares parents and caregivers with the knowledge and confidence needed to care for their baby from birth through the first year of life. This class will cover essential newborn care topics, including: Proper swaddling techniques Diapering and hygiene Umbilical cord care Taking a rectal temperature Newborn bathing Feeding frequency and expectations Understanding normal spit-up versus vomiting Safe infant handling, including head and neck support Proper baby transfers and positioning Basic car seat safety Spectra breast pump instruction and usage Understanding infant fontanelles ("soft spots") and safe handling We can accommodate up to six couples. The registration form will ask whether you are coming as an individual or with a second caregiver.
