Meet and Greet the Artist - Kevin H. Gillespie - "Nature in the City" Wednesday, September 30, 2026 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM in the Friends of the Needham Library Art Gallery, located on the second floor of the library. Artist Statement: I’m a city kid. I grew up in Brooklyn near Prospect Park and now I live in a part of Boston that borders the Emerald Necklace. Olmsted designed these and so many parks and understood how important preserving Nature in an urban environment is. The inspiration for many of these paintings occurred along the Necklace paths. My eyes focus on forms in Nature. The images are responses to beauty, to contrast, to mystery and to light and shadow. Each picture expresses a moment when I stopped to notice. Perhaps they will spark in you a memory of a similar moment.
