Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary — 280 Eliot St., Natick, MA
Broadmoor's wetlands are shaped in large part by a very fuzzy engineer—the beaver. Explore the sanctuary in search of active and abandoned beaver lodges, search for signs like chewed stumps and dams, and learn how a single beaver family can transform an entire landscape. Keep watch for the animals themselves as they swim through the marsh and fell branches for their winter food supply. You'll gain a deeper appreciation for one of Massachusetts' most important (and adorable) native species. Meet in front of the Nature Center. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes. Bring a water bottle and bug spray. Expect to walk along dirt and wooded trails.
