Boston Nature Center and Wildlife Sanctuary — 500 Walk Hill St., Mattapan, MA
Step into the role of nature investigator and search the Boston Nature Center's winter landscape for the tracks, scratches, and signs animals leave behind. Every clue tells a story about where an animal traveled, what it was doing, and how it is surviving the season. A naturalist will help you read those signs, identify which creatures stay active through the cold, and understand the adaptations that make it possible. From footprints in fresh snow to telltale marks on bark, you will start seeing the sanctuary as a living record of what animals share the trails with us. This program is free for Dot Rx members. Email [email protected] to register. The trails are flat and easy to walk or navigate with a mobility device, though surfaces may be slippery from snow or ice at this time of year. The full program takes place outdoors on the sanctuary trails. In the event of severe weather conditions, the program may be cancelled or postponed. More details on what to bring and expect will be emailed to you ahead of the program.
