High school readers in grades 9 - 12 are invited to the the first meeting of the book club formerly known as "Between the Lines" since the Cary Library ChiRP construction project! In anticipation of author Kelly Yang's visit to Lexington in October, we will be reading her book Parachutes . Copies will be available to pick from the Teen Room after registration opens on August 28. Please read the book before our September 28 meeting, where we will discuss it and also plan for future book clubs. In order to successfully participate in this program, a participant should have: the ability to read and comprehend complex books (accessible formats available) the ability to be an engaged participant in a conversation—including the ability to be an active listener, take turns talking, and treat peers with courtesy and respect a desire to interact and socialize with peers a desire to read outside their comfort zone and try different genres
