Pleasant Valley's mix of forests, meadows, and wetlands creates one of the best spots in the Berkshires to begin birding, especially during fall migration when a new cast of species pass through on their way south. After a short indoor introduction, you'll head outside for a relaxed walk along the Pike's Pond All Persons Trail, practicing bird-finding skills and learning simple identification cues with a patient, experienced naturalist. The walk takes place entirely on this level, accessible trail and covers less than half a mile, with benches along the way. Learn practical ways to support birds during this critical migration season and find out how protected lands like Pleasant Valley help make their journey possible. Meet in the red barn at Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary; doors will be unlocked 15 minutes before the program starts. Dress for the weather and bring binoculars if you have them. Loaner binoculars are available, as are an all-terrain Freedom Chair and Rollator (call ahead to reserve).
