The American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training with Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED course prepares youth ages 11– 16 with the knowledge and skills needed to safely and confidently care for children and infants. This course incorporates the latest science and teaches participants how to recognize and respond to a variety of first aid emergencies including burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, and back injuries, as well as heat and cold emergencies. Participants will also learn how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies involving pediatric victims ( infants and children up to 12 years of age). Through hands- on activities, videos, and group discussions, students will build practical babysitting skills such as feeding, diapering, picking up and holding children, supervising play safely, and responding to emergencies. The course also helps participants develop leadership skills, learn how to start and manage a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe, and guide children’s behavior in a positive way.
