Franklin County Sheriff's Department's (FSCO) presentation for their/our Read with the Children program

Thursday, December 3, 2026 · 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Main Lobby — 412 Main St., Greenfield, MA

Join organizing members of the Franklin Country Sheriff's Office's Reading with the Children program at this after hours event to learn more about the work being done to encourage literacy and a love of reading among incarcerated people and their families. As part of a well-established family literacy program at the FCSO, the Reading with the Children program lets parents and grandparents who are in the jail make a recording of themselves reading a picture book, then send the recording and a copy of the book to their loved ones. The Reading with the Children program is a special collaboration between three local public libraries—the Greenfield Public Library, the Belding Memorial Library (Ashfield), and the Griswold Memorial Library (Colrain)—together with the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office with support from the Friends of the Greenfield Public Library and the Mary Lyon Foundation.
