Birdwatching is one of the fastest-growing recreational activities in North America—and this program shows you why. Designed for beginners, the Joy of Birdwatching takes a slower, more intentional approach to the outdoors: walking mindfully, paying close attention to sound and movement, and truly watching birds rather than simply counting them. With an experienced guide leading the way, explore a variety of North Shore habitats, learning to identify species by sight and behavior while discovering what makes each one worth a longer look. If you have one, bring binoculars, a field guide for birds, and a spotting scope. Wear clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather and potentially muddy trails. Expect to walk at a slow pace over moderate terrain for a mile or more. Meeting location details and directions will be shared by email approximately one week before each session. Magnolia Woods, Gloucester, 474 Western Ave; meet at the top of the hill in the parking lot.
