Literary Monsters takes inspiration from the strange, spooky, and fantastical worlds of Edgar Allan Poe, Mary Shelley, Washington Irving, Emily Dickinson, Bram Stoker, and more. Along the way, we encounter ghosts, creatures, outsiders, authors—and one deceptively simple question: What makes a monster? Created and performed by Shadow, Sound, Spectacle, the show blends theatrical storytelling with the energy of a live band and the low-tech magic of light and shadow. One moment you’re at a rock show; the next, you’re watching silhouettes transform into creatures before your eyes or following a story into some wonderfully strange corner of literary history. No homework or prior knowledge of the classics required. Whether you come for the music, puppetry, literature, Halloween vibes, or general love of unusual things, you’re invited.
