Winter Bird Walk

Saturday, January 16, 2027 · 10:00 AM

Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary — 127 Combs Rd., Easthampton, MA

Surprisingly, winter is an excellent season to get to know your local birds. Fewer species are around, the trees are bare, and the birds that stay put are far easier to see and hear. Start at the Arcadia feeders, which draw a wide variety of birds into full view of the Visitor Center window and the boardwalk, then walk the trails through several different habitats to look for species that keep to the woods and fields. Along the way, you will build the skills to tell birds apart by sight, sound, and behavior. Knowing who's spending the winter here helps connects how bird populations shift with the season, and what you can do to help. Most of the program takes place outdoors, with some time spent watching the feeders from inside the Visitor Center. More details on what to bring and expect will be emailed to you ahead of the program.
