New Englanders should enjoy the outdoors without worrying about ticks and mosquitoes. The bite of ticks and mosquitoes can pass on germs with life-altering consequences. (Step aside, great white sharks!). But, the key is awareness and education, not fear. It can just take one piece of misinformation to leave us vulnerable. Fully understanding vector biology holds the keys to preventing disease. Join our workshop! We will review the latest research on tick and mosquito bite prevention, as well as bust any myths along the way. We will cover everything you need to know to prevent tick and mosquito bites. Topics to be covered: Mysteries behind tick and mosquito biology and ecology How diseases are cycled in the environment between animals and humans Empowering protection methods based on science, including personal protection and landscape modification This program is presented by Blake Dinius, Entomologist Extension Educator for the Plymouth County.
