A Birding Year at Long Pasture: Winter Series

Saturday, January 16, 2027 · 8:00 AM

Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary — 345 Bone Hill Rd., Cummaquid, MA

Take on a year of coastal birding three months at a time. Meet with a Mass Audubon naturalist each month to dig into a specific topic: the fundamentals of finding and identifying birds in January, listening for owls at dusk in February, and watching American Woodcocks perform their spiraling courtship flights in March. Along the way, watch Barnstable Harbor and its salt marsh shift from deep winter toward the first signs of spring. The three-month option exists to make a yearlong program easier to say yes to, and the full twelve months are waiting if it hooks you. Every meeting includes time outdoors on sanctuary trails in all weather. More details on what to bring and expect will be emailed to you ahead of the program.
