This course expands upon foundational skills while exploring the rich traditions and timeless techniques that have made watercolor one of the world’s most beloved painting mediums. Students will further develop their understanding of color harmony, composition, glazing, wet-into-wet painting, dry brush techniques, texture creation, atmospheric perspective, and advanced brushwork. Classic watercolor approaches used by master painters will be introduced alongside contemporary methods that encourage individual interpretation and artistic expression. Emphasis will be placed on creating stronger compositions, capturing light and mood, and developing confidence in personal style. Through demonstrations, instructor critiques, and guided projects, students will complete several original paintings while refining their technical abilities and artistic vision. Whether painting landscapes, florals, still life subjects, or imaginative works, participants will learn how to elevate their watercolor paintings from studies into finished works of art.
