Immerse yourself in a full year of local natural history. Every month, a skilled Mass Audubon naturalist will guide you through the fascinating seasonal phenomena happening right outside your door: monarch and bird migration, fall forests and fungi, owl season, vernal pools, spring wildflowers, fireflies, and butterflies and moths, and more. Each session begins indoors before heading out for at least 90 minutes of fieldwork outside, building natural history knowledge and a deep personal connection to our local landscapes and this distinctive wildlife sanctuary. October: Fall Forest: Fall Colors & Mushrooms November: Oaks, Seeds, & Insect Galls December: Trees & Their Buds January: Tracks & Traces February: Great Horned Owls, Barred Owls, & More March: Getting Ready for Spring April: Vernal Pools & Amphibians May: Forest Ephemeral Wildflowers, Bird Migration, and Nesting June: Fireflies and the Milkweed Insect Village July: Night Sounds, Night Life — Evening Walk August: Butterflies, Moths, and Host Plants Park in the gravel parking lot and follow the paved path to The Nest.
