Open to the public 1 pm – 6 pm To meet the needs of patients, the Red Cross needs to collect about 13,000 blood donations and more than 2,500 platelet donations every day. 84% of donations are collected at blood drives, hosted by generous sponsors—close to where people live and work. We provide about 40% of the U.S. blood supply. We help serve millions of patients in approximately 2,500 hospitals and other facilities across the country. We work to deliver vital services—from providing lifesaving blood products to hospital patients, relief, and support to those in crisis, to helping local communities be prepared to respond in emergencies.
