Join local yoga teacher, Lauren Shea, for an introduction to Yoga Nidra. Also known as yogic sleep or non-sleep deep rest, Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation practice that invites the body into profound relaxation while the mind remains gently aware. Using simple body, breath, and awareness techniques, participants are guided into a deeply restful state that supports the same restorative processes typically reached during deep sleep. This science-backed practice helps calm the nervous system, bringing it back into balance and supporting benefits such as reduced stress, improved sleep quality, clearer thinking, and improved digestion. No prior experience with meditation or yoga is required - simply come as you are, with curiosity. The program will include a brief explanation of the origins and lineage of Yoga Nidra, followed by a guided practice incorporating a full-body scan, sensory awareness, and breath focus. Participants may remain seated in a chair or are welcome to bring a yoga mat or blanket to lie down. For added comfort, Lauren recommends bringing an extra blanket, pillow, or eye covering.
