The Nutcracker: A Ballet Story Time with the José Mateo Ballet Theatre

Tuesday, November 10, 2026 · 11:00 AM – 11:30 AM

Codman Square — 690 Washington St., Boston, MA

The José Mateo Ballet Theatre leads a Nutcracker-themed ballet story time. We will read Bea in the Nutcracker, a picture book by Rachel Isadora, and learn some simple ballet moves. This program is ideal for children ages 3-6, supervised by a caregiver. The José Mateo Ballet Theatre is committed to making ballet an accessible art form. Under the leadership of its Founder and Artistic Director José Mateo, the company has presented original ballet works and new interpretations of classical ballets, including The Nutcracker. From its inception over 35 years ago, JMBT’s School has boldly challenged a centuries-old tradition of exclusion and elitism to create a more inclusive, just and humanistic approach to expert ballet training.
