Are you interested in the game chess? Are you interested in computers or programming? Are you interested in both? We’re going to demonstrate and explain how these two can be related. We will demonstrate a program we developed to visualize chess games. Programs like ours are in use online by millions of chess enthusiasts. Our program does not play the game of chess, but it “understands” enough to display the game status to facilitate the view and analysis of the game. We will follow up with the live demonstration with views as to what makes a good chess viewing tool and what are the issues in creating such a tool. This event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Belmont Public Library.
