Young Minds in Medicine: Mini Medical School

A drop-in, station-based STEM experience where families can arrive and participate at their own pace. Children would receive a “Mini Medical School Passport” upon arrival and visit interactive stations in any order, making the program flexible and accessible for families throughout the event. Program Overview: The goal of Mini Medical School is to introduce children to science, medicine, and healthy living through hands-on, age-appropriate activities led by middle school volunteers who are passionate about STEM. Some example stations include: Heart Lab – Children use a stethoscope to listen to their heartbeat, find their pulse, and discover how exercise affects heart rate. Bones & Muscles Station – Explore the human skeleton through interactive models and activities while learning how bones and muscles work together. Germ Detective Station – Participate in a hands-on activity demonstrating how germs spread and learn the importance of proper handwashing. Junior Doctor Clinic – Safely explore common medical tools, practice simple bandaging techniques, and learn how doctors perform basic examinations.
